Never, just a few singing lessons. Sadly I only discovered my love of music when I was at university; I wish I'd had the opportunity to go back now and do music at GCSE and A Level... though as I don't play an instrument at all, I might be better off going back a little further to continue the piano lessons I stopped when I was 6!

Silhouette is a great chance for me to branch out and get involved with something a bit different! I live in London, working for one of the national museums, and commute to rehearsals! I'm looking forward to Silhouette's shows this year, and am really enjoying our rehearsals so far. It's really nice for me to try some different styles of singing - It's quite a challenge to be rehearsing Purcell one night a week and Lloyd-Webber on another!"

In choirs since I was about 14, properly for about three years.

Meet Susi Cornwell

She says:

"I trained as a dancer till the age of 19, during which time I worked for the English National Ballet Company for two seasons as well as being a lead singer in a band. After an unfortunate injury to my knee my dreams of being a professional dancer were over. I pursued other careers but still had a real desire to perform. After having my son Lennon, who is now one year old, Silhouette is the perfect opportunity to start dancing and singing again and I am so looking forward to getting back on the stage and becoming part of this fantastic team."

Where were you born?

Truro in Cornwall

I absolutely love the music from Les Mis but it's probably the one I least enjoyed at the theatre.

Meet Alison MacLachlan

I'd like to introduce Alison, one of our newest members, we asked her some questions so you can get to know her before our next shows...

She says:

"I have always loved to sing and perform whether just round the house or in concerts. After completing a degree in Performing Arts and coming out of education I didn’t find many great opportunities to learn and perform in my local area… That was until I found Silhouette. I am extremely excited about this years performances and getting to work with such a talented group of people who also love what they do."

I have lived in Blackwater for the majority of my life before moving to Winchester to study for my degree. I stayed in Winchester for 4 years in total and moved back to Farnborough at the beginning of last year.

What do you do as a ‘day job’?

I work for Hampshire County Council as part of the County Treasurers department. I am a Financial Assessment and Benefits Visiting Officer. Do you sing in the shower?

Always, can’t help myself. The shower has the best acoustics in the house and even early in the morning you can sound great!

Do you have any other hobbies?

I have many hobbies; I like to go to gigs. I am addicted to films. I recently bought a new push bike and I’m looking forward to a bit nicer weather to get out there and enjoy it. I also enjoy trips on the British Waterways on Narrowboats but have not been out for a while. I also love to bake!

Have you been to Lourdes?

Not yet.

What’s your favourite musical?

I think my favourite musical would have to be Seven Brides for Seven Brothers for the beautiful vocal arrangements in ‘Brotherly Advice’ I love Calamity Jane as well… Maybe it’s just because I have a crush on Howard Keel in both of the film versions.

What’s your least favourite musical?

This is a tricky one, I love all of the old classics so I might have to go with one of the newer musicals that makes my skin crawl ever so slightly. High School Musical!

How long have you been singing?

I have been singing on and off since about the age of 10 and have performed in various school productions and have been in a few Choirs. I haven’t really done any singing for the past 2/3 years so I am excited to get back into it.
